Hello friends!! We are hosting a Trot for Trans Lives next Sunday, June 11th in Houston with Cal Dobs. They are doing a Trans Continental Run from LA to Florida to raise awareness about trans sports ban and the bans on gender-affirming care for minors. We are thrilled that Cal will be here to lead the Trot portion of the event. Our Clinic President, Pete Makopoulos-Sentfleber will lead the walk portion with his wife, Amy, and their son, MIlo. There is an in-person option to Trot/Walk/Stroll the 5k (3.1 miles) with us and a virtual option if you can’t make it. The 5k is family friendly, including leashed dogs! We will get started at 10 am with a couple of quick talks and start the Trot at 10:30! The Trot will start at The Houston Holocaust Museum. Huge thanks to the Museum and The Boniuk Center for hosting the kick-off! We will walk around a portion of Hermann Park and then up Crawford Street over to La Branch and end at Axelrad Beer Garden. Axelrad is happy to play host to our cool down party, there will be food trucks and a drink special for the event. Importantly, Axelrad is children and dog friendly! Learn more about Cal here. Sign up for the event here, Sign up to Volunteer here. Donate an event shirt for a trans person here. Lastly, the profits from this event will be going to local organizations: The Triple A Alliance which was founded to move Advocacy and Allyship into Action. Save Our Sisters United that empower, connect, and mobilize Trans people of color and women of ethnic minority through self and community empowerment, while better-educating society on anti-norms, stigma, gender biases, and trauma. Save Our Sons and Brothers which is a is a Houston-based network for transmen of color that provides a space for us to share experiences, resources and exist as our most authentic selves. We hope to see you there!!
