Legislative Roundup Virtual CLE

The Dallas LGBT Bar Association will host a virtual CLE on August 11, 2023 that delves into the significant changes made to the law during the 88th Session of Texas Legislature. Topics covered will include laws that impact the LGBTQ+ community, and changes impacting the practice of criminal law, real estate law, and business litigation. This CLE is free to Dallas LGBT Bar members, but registration is required. Christy Pennington – Clark Hill: With a specialization in Real Estate Law, Christy will delve into the legislative updates that may affect property rights, housing, and accommodations. D. Lance Currie – Carrington Coleman: Lance will address the impact of legislative changes on Business Law, including business rights and employment laws.

TLACT clinics are free for all participants! Volunteer attorneys will help you correct your name and/or gender marker on your identifying documents (driver’s license, passport, birth certificate, etc.). Please bring as many of the following documents as possible: – License/ID – Social security card – Birth certificate – Doctor’s letter – Fingerprint card You will eventually need all these documents to obtain your name and/or gender marker correction, but if you do not have any/all of them when you come to the clinic, that is okay. Our volunteers will help you figure out what documents you need and how to get them. Please note that you must be a Texas resident to participate.

The event will include a tour of the Toyota Center and presentation by Clay Allen, General Counsel for the Houston Rockets. Clay Allen will be discussing what it means to be out and proud as one of the highest-profile openly gay executives in professional sports. This event is FREE for SLAGH, EPAH, & HBA LGBTQ+ Section members.  Guests are $25.
